Welcome to Art Class!

Welcome to the art web page, my name is Jen Fogelson and I teach 5th and 6th grade art.

My expectations in art are for the students to respect the art work or others, to take chances with their art, and to provide a positive environment for learning.

During the 5th grade year, we are busy doing different projects with different materials throughout the year.  We spend a lot of time working with clay.  The students are busy making pots, cups, food items, animals and many more pieces that will be fired in the kiln and glazed.  We also design our own latch hook designs and make them.  A few other projects are paper mache masks, mosaics, making flowers, foiling, plus many more.

In 6th grade, the most popular project is tie-dying shirts.  We learn how to roll the shirts to get the round tie-dye design and choose the color combinations that we want for our shirt.  Another favorite project is making bridges out of corn dog sticks.  We spend time looking at the different types of bridges, and design our own. A few other projects that we do are making mandalas, weaving on a wooden loom, making clay pieces, plus many more.

If you have any questions about our art curriculum, feel free to contact me at jfogelson@sjvschool.net.

God's blessings,
