Dear SJV Families,

Grandparents’ Day went very well.  We always like to show off our school.  The first graders asked on Wednesday if we were going to play bingo when our grandparents come.  Of course!!  I think everyone enjoys that.  Mass was so nice with the student/staff/parent choir and band.  We have so much talent.  We are definitely blessed at SJV School .

Thank you!  Thank you to everyone who helped stuff envelopes for the Support-A-Student, this week.  We really appreciate the help of Ann Harris, Allison Hennager,  RoseMarie Lammers, Lori Mathiowetz, Gwen Militello, Julie Nordquist, Mary Pat Nawrocki, Shelley Vogel, Ellen Washa, Maria Washa, and Jen Fogelson and her 6th grade class.  Bless you all!!

Homecoming week at the high school is next week.  Our school will participate in some fun activities.  There is a list of dress up days included in your folder.  Fairmont High School royalty will come on Thursday to visit our school.  Homecoming buttons are available for $1 in the school office.

In your Friday folders, we are sending home information for you to access our school’s online JMC program for lunch, attendance and grades.  We will not be sending home midterms as parents will be able to access this information online.

Also, next Friday Oct. 2nd, the 5th and 6th graders will be going to Albert Lea for Rendezvous Days.  That is always a fun day.  Please pray for dry weather.  Because of the large class of 6th graders, it has been decided to take a school bus.

Our first count day was yesterday.  The following students received a treat for bringing in over $100, Skye Dobie, Hannah Sanvig, Isaac Striemer, Sawyer Brau, Madeline Mathiason, Anna Nordquist, Morgan Sanvig, Dylan Gerken, Chloe Graif, Lily Nordquist, Sydney Leichtnam, Darren McMurtry, and Anthony Shimon.  Thank You!  Thank you!!  We will have count days for the marathon on Tuesday, September 29th and Thursday, October 1st.  The marathon is Saturday, the 3rd.  Remember our final count day will be October 13th, Tuesday.  We are still in need of volunteers on the morning of the Marathon and also helpers on October 13 at 8:00 AM to count money.  This is our last count day so we will need many hands.

Just for your information, vision and hearing screening is going to be on Friday, October 9.  The public school offers this to our students.  They will contact you if they feel a retest is necessary.

A thank you to all who have been bringing in your used printer cartridges.  We send them in and receive about $2 each.  However, the company we send to will not take Epson cartridges.  So you can just throw those.

See you at the Fall Festival on Sunday.   Remember many of you have kindly signed up to work a shift.  Thank you in advance for this.

Remember, parent work night is next Thursday, October 1st.  Let us know if you can make it.

     Have a great weekend.

God’s Blessings,

Joan Schaffer
