Our prayer service and Freedom Walk were very moving this morning. Thank
you to all who were able to come. It is so nice to have visitors.
Thank you to Mrs. Striemer and the fourth grade for a job well done.
There are still several families that need to pay the field trip money.
Please pay to the office as soon as possible. It is $25 for K-3rd, $30 for
4th, $35 for 5th and $40 for 6th. Thanks for taking care of this.
If your child has an appointment, please come to the office first, and we will
then call the student down. Also, when a student comes in late or back
from an appointment, you will need to sign them in. Thank you.
Pictures are on Wednesday, September 23rd beginning with preschool at 8:30 AM.
All students are asked to have their picture taken for the yearbook but only
those with an order in hand with the money will be able to get a picture
package. Forms for pictures will be in next week’s Friday Folder.
We really could use a few parents to help with this. If your schedule
works, please consider this.
Grandparents’ Day is September 25th. We are getting excited to share our
school with our grandparents. We will have lunch, play bingo, visit
classrooms, and attend Mass at 1:30 PM. Please have your grandparents come
at 11:00 AM. We will begin serving lunch at 11:00 AM with Kindergarten and
their families. We will offer pictures of Grandparents and
Grandchildren if we have enough interest. There is a flyer in your folder
today so please return to the office. Mrs. Sandhurst is looking for any
parents who might play an instrument such as a flute, violin, or guitar to help
with Grandparent’s Day Mass. It would be great to have lots of
musicians. If you can, please contact us.
Please remember the Fall Festival is Sunday, September 27th. Thank you for
encouraging your students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade to be of service to others
by helping with this large parish event. Fourth graders and a parent are
being encouraged to sign up on Saturday for a two hour shift. There are 3
options which include 8-10 AM, 10 AM-noon, or noon-2 PM. Fourth grade
students can sign up in their classroom but we are asking our fifth and sixth
graders to sign up at Masses. We are in need of waiters and waitresses on
Sunday. If parents can help along with your student, that would be great.
Thank you! Thank you to Chrissy
Lutterman, Jessi Engeman and Lisa Kuhl. They have volunteered
to co-chair the marathon. I so appreciate this. The
On October 14, the public school has a noon dismissal. However, SJV will
be remaining in school for the entire day. There will be NO busing in the
PM on that day so families need to provide transportation.
SJV Families... please share any snapshots that you may have of school
activities throughout the year. The school’s Memory Book is always
in need of photos.
Free and reduced lunch forms are available in the office. If you are
interested in applying for this, please pick up a form. Please complete
and return to school as soon as possible. We need all forms into the state
by October 1st.
This year there are many students from SJV that are participating in band or
orchestra, which is awesome. If there is inclement weather, we will not
send them over to
I did not find out about President Obama’s speech until Thursday afternoon
which was too late to notify parents since we did not have school on Friday.
It was decided not to watch the speech as parents did not have a vote on whether
their student should watch it. Parents can find the speech online if you
would like your students to see it.
We are working closely with the health department to monitor flu conditions but
we all need to be diligent about taking steps to prevent its spread. In
your Friday folder is a flyer on what parents can do to help us. It is
important to teach good handwashing skills but please, please keep you child
home if he/she is ill. The need to be free of symptoms for 24 hours before
returning to school including vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. I think this
year more than any other we all need to take precautions. WE ARE ASKING
EACH FAMILY TO BRING A TUB OF DISINFECTING WIPES FOR THEIR STUDENTS DESK.
We are all watching our pennies these days so I would like to tell you about a
website that will donate a penny to our school every time you search on the web.
The site is GoodSearch.com and Yahoo has teamed up with them. The money
comes from advertisers on the site. There is a sister site to
GoodSearch.com, the GoodShop.com
It
will donate a part of every purchase to our school at no additional cost to you.
The good news is that more than 900 of the top Internet retailers and travel
sites including Amazon, eBay, Target, Expedia and more have joined this shopping
site. It takes just a few seconds to go to www.goodshop.com, select your
charity, and then click through to your favorite store and shop as usual.
Thank you for considering this as you shop online.
Target sent our school a check for $375.92 this week as part of the Take Charge
of Education Program. When you use your Target credit card, if you have

Beginning band and orchestra information is being sent home in the Friday
Folder.
Have a great weekend. We are going to spend it with 5 of my siblings
and families. Should be great fun.
