Dear
SJV Families,
Happy
Halloween!! The students are very excited about tomorrow night. Have
a fun and safe time trick or treating.
The
Knights of Columbus raised $1000 for the school’s internet last Sunday at the
Pancake Breakfast. This is down about $200. Out of 71 school
families, unfortunately only 10 attended. If you could not make the
breakfast, we are still taking donations. Thank you to the Knights and to
the school staff who helped with this event.
The
first quarter is ending today. Where did the time go?? Report cards
will be sent home on Wednesday. Please bear with us this year as we learn
to use the new grading program to print out our report cards. The time
your conferences are scheduled is enclosed in the Friday folder. It
is very difficult to get 35 conferences scheduled with three teachers so please
understand. I hope your conferences go well. Please know my office
door is always open for concerns. Also, please be sure to check out all
the Lost and Found items, as we have lots of items in there already.
We will have scrip available on Thursday evening so bring your Christmas list
and purchase scrip cards. Remember we ask that just the parents come for
conferences, not the students.
Help!!!!
Book Fair volunteers are needed. Please help out if you possibly can.
Call Connie Anthony at 236-1273. Thank you.
The
time for the school board meeting for Thursday, November 5, 2009 has been moved
to 8:00 PM, after conferences. We will still have Parent Work Night on November
5th.
We
are not sure what we are going to do for basketball this year. At the
present time, we have no 6th grade girls signed up for the program.
We still need a coach for 5th-6th grade boys; Hank and Ben Brown will be the
assistants. We have 9 boys signed up for that team so that is a great
number. I do not think we will have a 3rd and 4th
grade boys’ team as we have no boys signed up in 4th grade so it
would only be a 3rd grade team. If we do, we will need a coach
for them. Steve Jette and Tanya Hargan will be the coaches for the 3rd
and 4th grade girls if we have that team. Scott Poppe has
volunteered to coach the 5th and 6th grade girls. We
may have to have 4th and 5th grade girls for our oldest
girls’ team and they will need to play against 5th and 6th
graders and possibly not invite the 3rd graders to join. Please
consider being a coach if you can. Is it time to discontinue the
basketball program at
We
missed the following students on our award sheet last week. The following
students were awarded
3rd
Grade – Meagan Reischl, 4th
Grade-Colby Kuhl, 5th
Grade-Dylan Gerken, 6th
Grade-Tie-Angela Gerken, Ana Engeman. Thank
you students!!!
In
the folder today is tuition billing, and lunch billing . November
tuition payment is now due which would be the third payment. Take a look
at your bill to check accuracy. If you think there is an error, please
contact Mrs. Petrowiak.
For
the Harvest Mass, Nov 18th, SJV is contributing to the parish food shelf.
The items needed are spaghetti sauce, hamburger and tuna helpers, peanut butter,
jelly, boxed mashed potatoes, noodles, crackers, juices, and canned meats
including tuna, ham, spam, chicken. Canned
fruit is NOT needed at this time. Any paper products including
kleenex, or hygiene items would be greatly appreciated. We will be
collecting for a couple of weeks so send in your donations any time.
Picture
retake day has been scheduled for November 5th. If your student
is going to have a retake, please send the old package and $5 with your student
to cover the retake. I will be driving the students down to the studio at
9:00 on Thursday.
The
TV station, Kare 11 has a free service that will email a family when their
child’s school is closed or delayed for bad weather. You need to sign up
at their website. The website is http://www.kare11.com/weather/emails/schoolalert
Reminder,
pop can day is Friday, November 6th.
Have
a great weekend. Hope to see you at the 6th grade
spaghetti feed fundraiser this Sunday, Nov.1st from 11:00 AM -1:00
PM. Suggested donation is $7 for adults and $4 for children 10 years old
and under.
God’s
Blessings,
