November
20, 2009
Dear
SJV Families,
Good
morning!! Another nice week of weather. November has been wonderful.
We are sure enjoying be outside at recess.
If
your student plans to play basketball, come to the BB parent/coach/student
meeting on Monday at 5:15 PM.
Notice the time has changed because of a concert at the high school. The
cost is $25 for one student, $40 for two students plus parents must sign forms
to allow their children to play. Tamarae Schmidt has volunteered as our
cheerleading coach so we have asked 3rd through 6th
graders if they would like to be on the cheerleading squad. If they do
please come to the meeting Monday night to get your forms and pay the fee.
It is OK with us if they do both basketball and cheerleading as long as it is OK
with you. Only one $25 fee needs to be paid if the student does both.
Basketball practice will be on Mondays and Thursdays for 5th and 6th
grade boys from 3:00-4:30 PM, and on Thursdays and Friday for the 5th and 6th
girls from 4:30-5:30 PM. The 3rd and 4th grade girls
will practice from 4:30-5:30 PM Mondays and on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30 PM
and 3rd and 4th grade boys will practice on Tuesdays from
4:30-5:30 and from 3:00-4:30 on Fridays.
As
you go to JMC through the parent access to check grades, make sure you click on
2nd quarter to get current assignments and/or grades.
The
dinner dance committee is just beginning to work on this fast approaching event.
If you would like to join us and get your 100 points for parents, please come to
the next meeting that will be held on December 14th at 5:15 PM. Please let
us know if you plan to be part of this committee.
Our
Christmas program is coming soon. It will be December 10th beginning at
6:30 PM.
Students
are to wear church clothes but please no high
heels for the girls. They are very dangerous on the risers.
We will be selling scrip so you can plan ahead for your Christmas shopping.
The 6th graders will be having a fundraiser of apple cider and Christmas cookies
after the concert to raise money for their trip to Eagle Bluff.
A free will offering will be collected.
Marlys
Stegar from the Hope Shop sent the following to us. Thank you SJV School
Students. The Harvest Mass was extremely meaningful and heartfelt.
The Hope Shop volunteers would like to extend our gratitude for the incredible
amount of items that were collected for the Hope Shop. Your collection has
filled the shelves so that we can provide for many families in need. This
is a gift of extreme generosity and compassion that you are showing to the
people in our own community. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
There
will be no 4-H for the month of December because it was scheduled the same day
as the Christmas program. It will resume on January 14th.
Two
books were special ordered from the bookfair but no name was listed for them.
They both are Diary of a Wimpy Kid. One is titled “Rodrick Rules” and
the other is “A novel in Cartoons”. They have both been paid for.
If they are yours, we have them in the school office.
The
Spelling Bee will be held in December instead of January this year. It is
scheduled for December 15th at 1:00 PM. Please come join us if
you can.
I
want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Continue to pray for
all of those still affected by the war in
God’s
Blessings,
Principal
