Dear SJV Families,

The weather this week has been awesome.  The students have been able to go outside for recess every day.  Yesterday Father Kevin, Mrs. Swanson and I took the 6th graders to the Pizza Ranch for lunch.  They brought in the most money per student for the marathon.  I was very proud of their behavior.  Good job, 6th graders.  Thank you to Mrs. Brau, Mrs. Komaragiri, and Mrs. Quiring for driving and having lunch with us.  It was great to have you join us.

Our book fair was a success.  We made $2144.55.  AWESOME!!!  Thank you SO much to all who attended, volunteered your time to work, at selling, set up, and take down.  A special thanks to Connie Anthony for chairing this important event.

Next Wednesday, we will have our Harvest Mass.  Non-perishable grocery items, and paper and hygiene products can be brought in by Wednesday, November 18th.  All donations will be given to our Hope Shop for the food shelves.  Please give what you can to those less fortunate.

Also, next Wednesday is the parish Advent Adventure.  It sounds like it will be a great evening to spend with fellow parishioners.  Be sure to register with the Faith Formation office.  There is a form in your Friday folder.

Next Friday, Nov. 20th, SJV will have a float in the Glows Parade.  The float is a small trailer and so we are drawing two names each of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to ride on it.  Thank you to Bob Petrowiak for chairing this.

The students will begin basketball practice on Monday, November 30th.  The cost is $25 per student and it is important that one parent comes to the parent/student/coaches meeting on Monday, November 23rd at 6:30 PM.   The 5th and 6th grade boys will practice from after school until 4:30 PM on Mondays and Thursdays.  The third and fourth grade girls will practice on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 PM and Tuesdays after school until 4:30 PM.  The 3rd and 4th grade boys will practice at 4:30 on Tuesdays, and right after school on Fridays.  The 5th, and 6th grade girls will practice from 4:30-5:30 PM on Thursday and Friday.  The players  will either need to go home and return for practice at 4:30 PM or go to Kidstop.  One and one-half hours is too long for a study hall without supervision.  Please fill out the Kidstop form if your student will be coming to Kidstop on Tuesday.  Thanks.  Also we are asking if any parent is interested in being the cheerleading coach.  If we get a coach, we will invite students to cheer and try to have a squad. Some students chose to do both BB and cheerleading and others pick one.

The ‘Gifts from the Heart” donations will be given at Mass on December 2nd. Items may include toys, games, hygiene products and hats and mittens.  Please give what you can.

The dinner/dance will be here before we know it.  There are raffle tickets for anyone who would like to purchase a ticket.  Here is the chance to support the school and possibly win $8,000.  The dinner/dance is Saturday, January 30th.  We have some great ideas for baskets.  More information will be coming soon.

Thank you for bringing in all the used cartridges.  We received a check this week for $189.00.  It all adds up and we appreciate your support.

Have a nice weekend.

God’s Blessings,

Joan Schaffer
