Dear
SJV Families,
Registration for K-6th went well but if you have not turned in your registration
forms, please, please, please do
so as soon as possible. We need to know
registration numbers for staff hirings and textbooks. The
finance council has a budget meeting on Tuesday evening so if you could send
your paper work in your Friday folder, that would be great. A school board
member will be calling the families that have not registered. Thank you
for your continued support.
Conferences from our view point went well and I hope from yours they did also.
We will have conferences on Monday, March 15th from 4:30-6:30 PM.
Please know that my door is always open for concerns.
We had our first count day on Thursday for the magazine drive. Three
hundred and one orders were turned in so we are at about 30% of our goal.
We are in need of more money counters for the magazine drive. Money will be
counted on Thursday morning, March 18th and Tuesday morning, March 23rd,
both are from 8:30-11:00 AM. Please, if you could come help for even an
hour, that would be so helpful. Thank you in advance.
If your child has received a postcard from someone out of town that you sent a
Magnet card too, please have them return it to school before the end of the
magazine drive. We will use those to cross check the list from the company
as we do not know whether the person ordered one or more magazines.
Students will get credit for these orders on the last day of the sale. We
have to wait to make it fair for all. In your Friday folders are yellow
copies of what magazines students sold and to whom last year. We meant to
send these home last week.
The basketball / cheerleading banquet is Tuesday, March 23rd .
Supper will be at 5:30 PM, with the awards ceremony after that.
March 19th is the end of the third quarter. Can you believe it?
Report cards go home on Wednesday, March 24th. Be sure all fines are paid
and all cheerleading and basketball uniforms are turned in.
Our one week collection for “Pennies for Patients” brought in $148 for the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We had two snow days that week and then our
Lenten project began. Thank you for giving to this very worthwhile cause.
Second graders brought in the most money. Last week’s pop can money
brought in $119.70. Thank you for bringing your pop cans to school.
This money goes to assemblies.
Sunday is the fourth Sunday in Lent. How are you doing with your Lenten
goals? The school’s Lenten project is to send aid to the people of
As I look at the honor roll from the high school, I am so pleased to see most of
past SJV students’ names. Out of all the graduates from
Connie Anthony is chairing the Book Fair in May for one last time. We need
a parent to become the chairperson after this year. You can do it for one
year only or once you learn the ropes, you can chair it until your last child
graduates from SJV. Connie would be willing to train you this spring so
you know what is required. Call us at school if this is something you want
to do.
The Family Fun Fair is March 26th at Five Lakes Elementary. If
you need points, this would be a fun opportunity to volunteer and get some of
your points.
I am sure most of you read in the Sentinel that the public school is adding 15
minutes on to each day until the end of the school year. We are going to
do that also and it will be added at the end of each day. Starting
Monday, March 15th,
The Marketing Committee has met once and our second meeting is Tuesday, March 16th
at 6:30 PM. Any parent or parishioner is welcome to join the committee.
You may receive “Points for Parents” for this volunteer position.
Remember the Jason Kotecki Presentation on St. Patrick’s Day in the
Hospitality Area of the church. He is a fabulous speaker and there is
child care available. Call Joni O’Brien to register by Monday at
235-5639.
We received information this week to pass on to our families. The
Have a great weekend. I want spring.
