 Dear SJV Families,

SJV Families are AWESOME!!!  Thank you so much for your generosity!!  The baskets for the Dinner/Dance are Great!!!  In your folder today, you will find a list of all the items that are in each of the classroom baskets.  There are a few items that came in after this was typed, but they will be announced at the dinner dance.  We thought you would enjoy seeing this.  If you are coming to the dance, this list will give you a preview so you know which basket you want to bid on. We are also sending home information on our Friends of St. John Vianney School and Featured Alumni.  We have sold 128 tickets to the dinner / dance which is about the same as last year but with the economy we are very happy with this.  The Knights of Columbus are trying to sell 450 raffle tickets this year.  As I type this they still have about 25 left.  Please call either Andy Lucas or Joe Schaffer or stop at the school, if you want to still purchase one before tomorrow night.  They have enough money for the prizes but the school will just get less.  Thank you!!! Thank you!!!  This fundraiser would not be near as large if the Knights did not do the raffle.  Last year we received about $25,000 from that alone.  I want to thank all of you for your wonderful donations to all of the baskets and also thank those for purchasing raffle tickets and dinner dance tickets.  This would not be successful without all of your support.  I do appreciate it so much.  I want our school to continue to thrive.

Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is next week, January 30th - February 5th, with a gala of events occurring.  A complete schedule of the week’s events was in last week’s Friday folder.  February 1st marks the kick-off of CSW with the Opening Ceremonies beginning at 8:40 AM in the gym.  We will be honoring and thanking the staff from the SJV Parish Center for all the work and service they do for the SJV Parish community.  Hope to see as many of you here as possible!   Tuesday at 9:00 AM we will have the play from MNSU - Mankato .  Wednesday we will have Mass partner reading at 1:30 PM.  If a student wants to wear pajamas on Wednesday, they need to bring in an item for the food shelf.  Thursday we will have faculty flip at 9:30 AM.   Remember we will be having our Mass on Friday to conclude CSW so no Mass on Wednesday.  Friday afternoon we will have a fun game afternoon.

We will be having a half page ad in the Fairmont Sentinel on two separate days.  Be sure to check it out.  Friday, February 5th, we will have a pizza meal before the Variety show.  There will be a Free Will offering just to cover the cost of the meal.  It is not a fundraiser!!!!  The 5th graders will be having an ice cream sundae fundraiser after the show.  This money will go to their class trip.  We would also love  to have you join us any day for lunch next week.  Please send in the reservation form that is in this week’s folder, at least one day prior to your coming for lunch.  Thank you.

Be sure to listen to our students on the radio next week.  They will be on throughout the day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, on both KSUM and KFMC.  The students who did their radio spots will read them during announcements throughout the week.  The radio station is willing to email a copy of their voiced radio spot.  Parents need to call the radio station and just ask for it.  You will need to give them your email address.

I do want to thank the Knights of Columbus for their support of SJV School .  This weekend alone they have three events that they are hosting for the school including the Dinner Dance, and the Ray Rosol tournament on Saturday, and the Free-throw contest on Sunday.  We would not be able to be the school we are without all their help.  Thank you, thank you!!

I am looking forward to the Dinner /Dance tomorrow night and an exciting Catholic Schools Week next week.  The streamers are up in the hall and the classroom doors are decorated so nicely.  It is always SO much fun especially in the middle of January when the weather is so yucky.  See you there.

 God’s Blessings,

Joan Schaffer
