Dear SJV Families,

We have been busy this week taking the NWEAs.  We have three more days of testing which are next Wednesday-Friday, January 27th -29th.  Please make sure your children have a good breakfast on these days.

Teachers will have a workshop day next Monday, January 25th and will be learning more about Smart Boards and web pages.  The students will not have school that day.  We will see them again on Tuesday.

We are still selling tickets to the SJV Dinner /Dance which will be held next Saturday night, January 30th.  Please consider supporting our school by coming to the dance.  Our numbers are down from last year so we do need your help.  We will be honoring Larry and Jamelle Swanson as “Friends of SJV School”.  Some of the sixth graders will be helping to serve.  The buffet includes Carved Pork Loin and Chicken Marsala.  It is such a good time in the middle of the winter dulldrums.  We need to give the caterer our count by Tuesday.  Also, the Knights of Columbus have raffle tickets left to sell.  They have sold about 275 of the 450 they hope to sell.  The grand prize is $8,000.  Who will the lucky winner be?

Thank you to all our families who have been so diligent in making tuition payments.  Just a reminder that we have only four months of school.  Divide the amount there is left to pay by four to get your monthly payment.  If you are having difficulty paying your tuition, please contact me.  We also need to pay our bills so it is important that the families pay their tuition.  Thanks for staying on top of this.

Next Wednesday and Thursday, I will be transporting a student from each grade to the radio station to record spots for Catholic Schools’ Week.  Please listen the following week to see “What they like about SJV School ”.

In your Friday folder today, you will find the Honor Roll for 2nd quarter.  Congratulations to all those students.  Also, Points for Parents updated totals are in the folder.  If you think yours is incorrect, maybe you haven’t entered your points in the black book.  Thanks for all you do.

During the next four Wednesdays after Mass, one class per week is having reconciliation with Father.  This will only be for 3rd - 6th graders.

The next Variety Show practice is Wednesday, January 27th at 3-4:30 PM.  If you can help please call Sarah Brown or Kris Brau.

In your Friday Folder is a schedule for the Ray Rosol tournaments.  The boys is scheduled for January 30th and the girls for February 6th.  Come support our basketball players and enjoy the great concessions!

Have a great weekend!!  Hope the storm is kind to us!!!!  We need your dollar dividend project for our Catholic Schools’ Week bulletin board.  Please send it in as soon as possible.

God’s Blessings,

Joan Schaffer
