Dear SJV Families,

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL WHO ATTENDED LAST NIGHT’S STATE OF THE SCHOOL MEETING.  It was so awesome to see all of you there and to have parents’ support for our wonderful school.  I want you to know how much I appreciate that.  I will work very hard to make sure our school continues for years to come.  As always, if you have any suggestions how to improve, please let me know your thoughts.

Kindergarten Round-up is Monday, March 8th from 6-7 PM.  Children need to be five by September 1, 2010 to be eligible for Kindergarten.  Please encourage anyone you know to come take a look at what we offer.  We offer a full curriculum including Science and Social Studies.  We do need to know ahead of time who is coming so we can do name tags, etc.

Spring Parent Teacher  Conferences for grades K-6th are scheduled for Thursday, March 11th from 4:30PM - 8:00 PM and Monday, March 15th from 4:30-6:30 PM.  Spring conferences are teacher requested...however, families may request conferences if they so wish.  All conferences are held in the designated classroom.  Forms are in today’s Friday folder.  Information of the NWEAs will be given to parents at the conferences.  If your child is in Title and you would like a conference with Heidi Villeneuve-Schlomann, please use the blank form in your folder.  She will be here Thursday evening from 4:30-8 PM.

SJV School registration for next school year will be held on Thursday, March 11th from 4:30-8:00 PM.  We are sending your paperwork home today in the Friday folder so you can complete it and return it for registration.  Remember, there is a $100 non-refundable fee to register that will be applied to the 2010-2011 tuition.

Preschool registration is also Thursday, March 11th.   The open house will last from 5:00-7:00 PM so families can come and go.  Tuition for 3 - day / week preschool is $1000 / year and for the 2 - day / week program it is $700 /year.  There is a  preschool registration fee that is non-deductible and does not apply to tuition and it is $20 per student to hold his/her spot until the first day of school.

Thanks to all SJV families who have been so faithful with their tuition payments.  As everyone knows...bills also keep arriving at school on a regular basis.  With tuition income coming in on a regular payment schedule it helps pay the monthly operational expenses.  Please refer to the Tuition Collection Policy (Goldenrod) as to the policy for collecting tuition.  Families with questions or concerns regarding their current tuition status should contact me.  Thanks!

Attention all SJV Families... Two(2) members of the SJV School Board need to be elected in May.  The outgoing members are Deb Hartwig and Bob Petrowiak .  You need not wage a campaign, debate your opponents, or buy any advertisement for your campaign.  What you DO NEED TO DO, is sign up at registration on Thursday night, March 11th in the gym.  The election will take place at all Masses in May.  If you would like more information, please feel free to contact Bob Petrowiak, Board President, or any of the current SJV School Board members-- Heather Dulas, Deb Hartwig, Mike Lockwood, Ryan Nelson, or Julie Nordquist. The school board will participate in the larger fund-raisers of the school--golf tournament in July, and dinner/dance in January.  This is an important job to help guide the school into the future.  Thank-you for your consideration of serving St. John Vianney School .  To be on the school board, you must be a member of Holy Family or SJV parish but not necessarily a parent, so if you know anyone who meets this criteria and is interested, please have them call me at 235-5304..

Scrip updates are in your Friday folder so you know how close you are to the $800 requirement.  If you have questions of the amount of scrip you have purchased, please contact Laura Bearson at 235-3789.  Remember for every $800 over the first $800, your name goes in a drawing for $100 scrip.

Please keep Dawn and Larry Petrowiak and family in your prayers.  Dawn’s brother, Mitch, had a stroke and is recovering in a hospital in Sioux Falls .  He was only 49 and is raising his 14 year old daughter.  Pray for a full recovery.

Parent work night is this Thursday, March 4th from 6-8 PM.  If you need points this is a great way to get them.  Thanks!!

The basketball banquet is Tuesday, March 23rd at 5:30 PM.

 God’s Blessings,

 Joan Schaffer
