Dear
SJV Families,
Happy
Valentine’s Day on Sunday. Everyone here at school is excited for our
parties this afternoon. If you donated anything to help the students
celebrate, thank you very much.
Has
this snow been unbelievable? We have had 6 full snow days not including
late starts and early outs. WE WILL BE IN SESSION ON MONDAY, February 15th.
We did make it outside yesterday and today. The students are loving
playing in it but I am tired of it falling from the sky. Maybe it is
coming so I can learn patience.
Our
Open House for the preschool and K-6th school is Tuesday night from
5-7 PM. Please encourage a family to join your family in coming to this
event.
We
have some very nice items in our lost and found. Next time you are in the
building, please check to see if any on the items belong to your family.
Also, Minnesota Motor Bus has a huge box of lost and found items from buses.
If you are missing something, and we do not have it, check with them.
Thank
you very much to the families who have met their SCRIP obligation. Please
keep purchasing it as it doesn’t cost your family any extra money. For
those who have NOT met their $800, please try to do so. You just need to
fill out the scrip form and you can purchase the scrip at the parish center, or
during weekend masses. Send in the money and the form, we can get it for
you and give it to your child, if you are comfortable with this. The more
we use scrip, the less money we have to come up with for SJV, which in turn
means less tuition. Remember, for each additional $800 spent on scrip,
your name goes in for a $100 scrip certificate. If you do not make your
$800, a penalty of $80 is assessed for the school year.
If
you do have a change in plans for your child, from what was discussed in the
morning, please inform us by 2:30 PM so we can let the student know before they
would get on a bus. If the student is in 5th or 6th grade and in band or
orchestra, it would be nice to know by 1:30 PM so the student is informed before
they go to Five Lakes Elementary.
On
Thursday, February 25th,
Just
a reminder that the Girl Scouts are still helping us take care of God’s
creation. They are recycling plastic bottle caps, including pop, water,
gatoraide, orange juice, and detergent. They will not take lids such as
Cool Whip. There is a white waste basket in the front hall for you to
deposit your bottle caps. Thanks for helping with this project. We
all can go “green” in small ways.
Remember
the Sound of Simon is Saturday, February 20th at the Opera House at
7:30 PM. Tickets are $18 if purchased ahead and $20 at the door. If
you purchase ahead, SJV Parish receives $5 of the $18. Should be a fun
evening.
The
Basketball and Cheerleading pictures have been rescheduled for February 23rd
beginning right after school. We will send home a schedule of teams and
times.
We
have a list of menu changes in your Friday folder for next week. Because
of all the snow days, some of the menus have changed.
Also,
because of snow days, we are extending Pennies for Patients, the collection for
the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It will be done on Tuesday, February 16th.
Please send in pennies with your children.
Hope
everyone enjoys the weekend!!
God’s
Blessings,
Principal
